Michael Rupp is a partner in the tax consulting division of Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein in Schaan.
Professional experience
Michael Rupp completed his training as a Swiss certified tax expert in 2008 and has in recent years completed various training courses and study programmes in the area of tax and leadership at the University of St.Gallen and the University of Zurich. He started his professional career as a tax secretary in a tax office in the canton of St. Gallen. He then worked for several years in the tax department of a Big Four company based in Zug, followed by several years at ReviTrust AG, now Grant Thornton AG, in Schaan. In 2009, Michael Rupp joined a listed international industrial group based in the Lake Zurich area with major subsidiaries in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, where he held various senior tax positions, most recently as Deputy of Head of Group Tax. Before joining Grant Thornton on 1 January 2022, he worked for three years as a tax auditor for special projects at the cantonal tax office in Graubünden. In this role, he was also a member of the Multilateral Working Group of the Swiss Tax Conference.
Michael Rupp specialises in national and international corporate taxation. He has extensive experience in M&A transactions and restructurings. He also has extensive experience in IAS12.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Michael Rupp is a Swiss certified tax expert and accountant with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Corporate Finance (Basic and Advanced).
