Professional experience

Christoph has a long track record in regulatory and business consulting in the financial sector (for banks, financial market infrastructure providers and insurance companies). He provides comprehensive advice on change and transformation processes, in particular upon the operationalisation of new regulatory requirements (definition requirements / gap analysis / implementation).

In addition, he develops and improves compliance and risk management systems, particularly in view of new processes such as video onboarding and the digitalisation of onboarding processes (including KYC & AML) in financial institutions. He is qualified to provide services in the following regulatory fields: business analysis, risk management, project management, pro-cess analysis and design as well as audits and assessments.

Christoph Hasenkamp works very successfully on the interface to IT, particularly where this involves integrating business requirements into the existing systems of your company. Before changing to Grant Thornton, he worked for several years as Head of Risk Management / OpRisk Control for a large Swiss asset management company and infrastructure provider (‘second line of defense functions’ in both cases) and was then in charge of several initiatives in the field of ‘Regulatory & Compliance Financial Services’ (e.g. relating to MiFID II, Financial Market Infrastructure Act, QI 871m ...).

Professional qualifications and memberships

Christoph Hasenkamp obtained an MBA from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Russian Academy for Public Service, Moscow. He is a member of the order of Saint John in Switzerland.


In addition to his mother tongue German, Christoph Hasenkamp speaks fluent English and has basic knowledge of French.
