New advisory service: Advisory Insurance

Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein still on course for growth: New “Advisory Insurance” services under the leadership of Markus Brugger

In line with the growth strategy of Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein, the existing advisory services in the area of Financial Services are being expanded to include the “Advisory Insurance” service line. Markus Brugger will build up this business.

With more than 27 years of professional experience in the insurance industry, Markus Brugger is a proven expert and experienced actuary. Besides various positions at renowned re-insurance and life assurance companies, including acting as a CEO for two companies, he has been a board member of the Liechtenstein Insurance Association (LVV) since 2007. He was the president and vice president of the association for four years.

Through the expansion of “Advisory Insurance” in the area of Financial Services, Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein is now presenting a full range of auditing and advisory services for financial intermediaries in Switzerland and in Liechtenstein. The new service line is thus supporting the ambitious growth strategy of the company. Against this backdrop Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein is assuming that the demand for advisory services will increase in the insurance market which prompted the company to strategically reposition the area of “Advisory Insurance”.

The range of services in the new service line is based on three main themes: i) services involving Solvency II, ii) advisory services in the area of actuarial matters and product development as well as iii) strategic consulting incl. M&A and start-up consultancy.

Among other things, Markus Brugger has already founded and been a CEO of a Liechtenstein life assurance company in the course of his career and has the skills to provide highly competent advice to clients from his own experience. He was also in charge of various projects during the development of innovative insurance products and in this function developed a reliable instinct for getting strategic priorities right and implementing these. As a result of his function in the Liechtenstein Insurance Association, he also has very good connections in the industry at national and international level and made a major contribution to the development of that association. His professional experience coupled with his excellent market knowledge make Markus Brugger an ideal consultant.
